ATFP Welcomes Gaza Ceasefire Announcement

August 26, Washington, DC -- The American Task Force on Palestine (ATFP) welcomes today's announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Palestinians.

ATFP mourns the loss of over 2,100 Palestinians, many of them civilians and children, with countless more injured, thousands of homes and other buildings destroyed, and one third of the Gaza population displaced. ATFP expresses strong solidarity with the long-suffering people of Gaza, and all the innocent victims of this terrible conflict.

The Task Force appreciates the constructive leadership role Egypt played in successfully mediating the agreement.

ATFP fervently hopes that the ceasefire will hold, and that the people of Gaza will be spared the ravages of war in the future.
