Washington, D.C., January 17, 2007 -- The American Task Force on Palestine (ATFP) today announced another donation of $10,000 for Palestinian humanitarian relief to the Red Crescent Society Hospital in Jerusalem. ATFP launched an appeal in May 2006 to collect donations for humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian people. ATFP continues to donate all funds raised from the Palestinian Humanitarian Fund to medical facilities in the West Bank and Gaza.
ATFP?s donation enabled the Red Crescent Society Hospital to purchase two backup oxygen changeover systems. The installation of the systems also enabled the hospital to pass an annual inspection by the Israeli Ministry of Health and obtain a renewed license to operate.
In total, ATFP has donated $55,000 to medical facilities in the West Bank and Gaza for Palestinian humanitarian relief. In August 2006, ATFP donated $45,000, with grants going to Al-Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem, St. Luke's Hospital in Nablus, and the Washington, D.C.-based United Palestinian Appeal (UPA).
ATFP will continue to collect donations for the Palestinian Humanitarian Fund and, with your continued support, hopes to raise a total of $100,000 for several medical facilities in the West Bank and Gaza. ATFP will continue to distribute all funds raised by the appeal to hospitals with a desperate need for assistance.
