ATFP Urges Cease-fire in Gaza, Urgent Humanitarian Measures

The American Task Force on Palestine (ATFP) reiterated its urgent call for a cease-fire between all parties in the Gaza Strip and urged the United States Government to do everything in its power to secure a cease-fire. Israeli military airstrikes against the Gaza Strip since Saturday have killed approximately 400 Palestinians and injured hundreds more. ATFP called this loss of life appalling, and expressed alarm at the suffering and increasingly perilous position of the innocent civilian population in Gaza.

Washington, DC, Dec. 27 -- The American Task Force on Palestine (ATFP) called for an immediate cease-fire between all parties following Israeli military airstrikes against the Gaza Strip earlier today that killed approximately 200 Palestinians and injured hundreds more. ATFP deplored the disproportionate force employed by Israel and expressed deep concern for the well-being of the innocent civilian population in Gaza.

On December 10th the US-Palestinian Partnership welcomed the leaders of four Palestinian Youth Development and Resource Centers (YDRC). As an integral component of UPP’s efforts to develop opportunities for Palestinian youth, the YDRCs focus on providing training and educational programming for young Palestinians.

On December 4th, ATFP President Dr. Ziad Asali joined a panel discussion at the Israel Policy Forum's (IPF) Annual Symposium. The panel, entitled "Keeping the Two-State Solution Alive: Israel-Palestine Negotiations One Year After Annapolis," was moderated by IPF National Scholar Dr. Steven Spiegel who presented questions to Dr. Asali and Dr .Yoram Peri, the Head of the Chaim Herzog Institute for Media, Politics, and Society.

Washington, DC, Dec. 4 – On Dec. 4 the American Task Force on Palestine (ATFP), the Foundation for Middle East Peace and the Middle East Institute hosted a group of officials from the PLO Negotiation Affairs Department (NAD) for a discussion of The Future of the Peace Process: A Palestinian Perspective, at the Middle East Institute’s headquarters in Washington, DC. Maen Areikat, Rami Dajani and Khaled Elgindy discussed the Palestinian positions and negotiating strategy, and answered numerous questions from the attendees.

US-Palestinian Partnership Visits West Bank to Support Education and Economic Initiatives

In mid-November, U.S.-Palestinian Partnership co-chairs, Ziad Asali and Jean Case, and Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs James Glassman led a delegation to the West Bank and Israel to announce the Partnership's accomplishments to date and explore future opportunities. The delegation participated in the opening of a Youth Development and Resource Center (YDRC) in the village of Beita.
