The Moroccan fibula is most likely 19th century, from the area of Tiznit.
Silver with filigree and enamel decoration, with colors signifying the sun (yellow); red/orange as a protector against the evil eye; and green, color of vegetation and growth. Fibulae were used by Berbers to fasten garments, and symbolize power.
