The first of four collage paintings that make up the 'Mosques of Cairo' series, created in 1982 by Catherine Painter. The collages are of handmade Japanese paper, ink and pastels and are featured in beautiful bronze frames.
Catherine Painter, born in 1913, is a Chicago artist, whose work has been exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Arts Club of Chicago, the Evanston Art Center and numerous private galleries in group and one person shows. She studied under the renowned Bauhaus artist Paul Weighardt.
