alestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday urged combatants in Syria [2] to avoid Palestinian refugees and their camps.
"We are worryingly following the implication of our people and camps in Syria in the regrettable internal conflict there," Abbas said in a brief statement published by Wafa, the official Palestinian news agency.
Earlier on Sunday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a London-based activists' group, said a Syrian MIG aircraft bombed parts of the Yarmouk camp for Palestinian refugees in the Syrian capital Damascus, adding that eight people were killed in the process.
Besides, intense clashes between local committees and armed rebels are reportedly taking place Sunday in the camp. Rumors spread on Saturday that the rebels have taken over the camp, however, Syria's state-media denied the reports as untrue.
