European Union diplomats on Friday visited a village in the south Hebron hills under threat of demolition by Israeli authorities.
The envoys toured Susiya to "show their concerns over the humanitarian impact and political implications of the recent demolition orders," an EU statement said.
Last week Israeli forces handed Susiya -- which is flanked by an Israeli settlement of the same name -- demolition orders for each of its 50 buildings, a week after Israeli authorities agreed to halt all construction in the area in response to a petition filed by a settler group.
The village lies in Area C, the 62 percent of the West Bank under full Israel civil and security control since the 1993 Oslo Accords.
The EU called on Israel to meet its obligations to Palestinians living under Israeli military control in the occupied West Bank "including halting forced transfer of population and demolition of Palestinian housing and infrastructure, simplifying administrative procedures to obtain building permits, ensuring access to water and addressing humanitarian needs."
