3 killed in blast at Gaza training camp

Three men were killed Tuesday in an explosion at a resistance training ground in the southern Gaza Strip. Popular Resistance Committees spokesman Abu Mujahid told Ma'an that three men affiliated with the group were killed in a blast at the Abu Ataya training ground in Tel Sultan, west of Rafah. It was not immediately clear what caused the explosion but the Israeli military said it was not responsible. Abu Mujahid identified those killed as Younis Abu An-Naja, Ramzi Abu Harb, and Mahmoud Al-Arqan.

'Navy prepared to board flotilla ships if they don't stop'

The Israel Navy is prepared to intercept and take control of the ships participating in the new flotilla to the Gaza Strip, a senior Navy officer said Tuesday on the anniversary of the IDF operation to stop the Mavi Marmara that ended in the death of nine Turkish nationals. "We will order the ship to stop, but if they don't, we are prepared to intercept and board the ship," a senior officer told reporters.

Hamas opens memorial to dead flotilla activists

The Islamic militant group Hamas has unveiled a memorial for nine activists killed last year in an Israeli raid on an international flotilla seeking to break a blockade of the Gaza Strip. The memorial at Gaza's harbor includes nine 12-yard-(meter)-high metal statues shaped as sails, and a new public park. Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said Tuesday the memorial commemorates "the heroes who drew the world's attention to the siege of Gaza."

Israeli artillery fire injures 4 in central Gaza

Israeli forces fired on an area east of Al-Bureij camp in central Gaza Thursday evening, injuring four, including a woman and two children, local sources said. Three artillery shells were fired into farm lands east of the refugee camp, eyewitnesses told Ma'an. The injured were taken to Al-Aqsa hospital in the central Gaza region of Al-Wusta, but their injuries were not critical, the sources said.

3 UNRWA workers injured from Gaza projectile fire

Three UNWRA workers were injured Friday morning after a projectile fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel landed near the Karni border crossing and hit a UN building. Palestinians reported three injured from alleged IDF tank fire in the Sajaiye neighborhood east of Gaza City, according to a report by the Ma'an news agency. The IDF denied the report, saying that it was not operating in the area and that the three UN workers were injured due to an erroneously fired mortar or rocket.

Tanks enter Gaza City industrial zone

Several Israeli tanks penetrated Gaza's border on Thursday morning, entering the Gaza City industrial zone where they demolished an unknown number of factories, all which had been closed since 2005. The industrial zone, near the now-closed Karni crossing, is less than a kilometer away from the border, and was set up near the crossing to facilitate exports.

The military operation took place in an industrial zone that has not been functioning since Israel imposed a blockade on Gaza in 2007 which mainly blocked export. The zone is located near Karni, the largest commercial crossing which has been permanently closed by Israel earlier this year and replaced by another crossing in the southeast end of the Gaza Strip.

Do people here know that we’ve prevented trucks from delivering cooking oil, flour or sugar to Gaza since last Thursday, when Hamas fired an anti-tank missile at a school bus, gravely injuring a 16- year-old boy? Do people here know or care what we do to Gaza’s civilians?
