Hamas and Fatah officials will meet in Cairo on Thursday to discuss national reconciliation, a Fatah official said Wednesday.

Azzam al-Ahmad told Ma'an that the meeting was supposed to be held on Wednesday but was delayed for technical reasons. 

The meeting will discuss a timetable for implementing agreed reconciliation measures, the work of the elections committee, and a date for the freedom committee and the social reconciliation committee to start work.

A date will also be set in Cairo for a PLO meeting next month, he added.

Mohammad al-Nahal, a member in Fatah's revolutionary council, told Ma'an that 400,000 Palestinians in Gaza have still not updated their voter registration.

President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah and Khaled Mashaal of Hamas met face-to-face in Cairo last Wednesday, for the first time in over a year.

They also met separately with Egyptian President Muhammad Mursi, and an Egyptian official said the leaders agreed to implement the Egyptian-sponsored deal from 2011.

The two sides have so far failed to put the deal into practice to reunify Palestine's leadership.
