Qatar's Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani will visit the West Bank city of Ramallah and meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas this month, a Palestinian source said Sunday.
The emir recently informed Abbas about his intention to visit the West Bank and arrangements for this visit are underway, the source told Xinhua.
This will be the second visit by an Arab leader to the West Bank since the United Nations recognized Palestine as a non-member observer state last month. King Abdullah II of Jordan visited the West Bank earlier this month.
In October, al-Thani became the first head of state to visit Gaza since Hamas, the Islamic movement that does not recognize Israel, took over the territory in 2007. Hamas is a bitter rival of Abbas's Fatah party.
