Mourners clashed with Israeli troops at two funerals on Tuesday as Palestinians across the West Bank continued to protest Israeli attacks on Gaza.

In Hebron, hundreds attended the funeral for Hamdi Mohammad Jawwad al-Falah, who was shot by Israeli soldiers at a demonstration in Hebron's Bir al-Mahjar neighborhood on Tuesday.

Medics said al-Fatah, 22, had been shot with four live bullets in the chest, face and knee. An Israeli military spokeswoman said he he had assaulted forces who shot him.

Mourners marched from al-Hussein Ben Ali Mosque after noon prayers, calling for revenge and for national unity.

After the burial, hundreds of young men headed to the Bab al-Zawiya square in Shuhada street, near a Jewish settlement. Israeli forces showered them with tear gas canisters and rubber-coated steel bullets.

Over 40 people required treatment for tear-gas inhalation and eight were hit by rubber bullets, medics said. A tear-gas canister hit a Red Crescent ambulance, smashing its windshields and filling the vehicle with gas, injuring medics.

Meanwhile, thousands attended the funeral for Rushdi Tamimi, a 31-year-old police officer who died Monday two days after he was shot in the stomach by Israeli forces at a protest in Nabi Saleh. A video of Saturday's protest shows Israeli forces threatening demonstrators who tried to administer first aid.

Tamimi's body was taken in a military vehicle from Ramallah hospital to al-Manara square, where mourners were waiting, including Ramallah governor Laila Ghannam, senior police officials and security force leaders.

The procession then headed to Bir Zeit police center, where Tamimi's colleagues paid their respects, and on to Nabi Saleh where he was buried.

"Martyr, rest, we will pick up the fight," mourners chanted as they carried the body through the village.
