Visiting Palestinian Fatah Central Committee member Azzam Ahmad said Thursday that the Palestinians refuse to turn their issue into an internal Lebanese dispute, the National News Agency reported.
Ahmad, in charge of the issue of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, had met with Lebanese Army Commander General Jean Qahaji and House Speaker Nabih Berri since arrival on Thursday.
Ahmad's meeting with Berri focused mainly on security incidents in the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, as well as latest regional developments.
The report quoted Ahmad as saying that "the Palestinian refugees will remain guests in Lebanon and will not accept any plan, regardless of its nature, to turn the Palestinian issue in Lebanon into an internal Lebanese crisis."
He stressed "we are with Lebanon's unity and sovereignty, and are under the ceiling of the Lebanese law, not above it."
On Monday, clashes with the Lebanese army at Nahr el-Bared and Beddawi camps left two Palestinians dead and several others wounded, including soldiers.
