RAMALLAH, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) decided Wednesday to apply to the United Nations to freeze Jewish settlement activities.
After a meeting in Ramallah, the PLO executive committee announced that it will go to the UN Security Council and the General Assembly to force Israel to commit to the two-state solution and stop settlement construction.
The settlement projects in the West Bank and east Jerusalem which the Palestinians want as a future capital "present a clear evidence that the Israeli government's plan is to make the implementation of the two-state solution impossible," the committee said in a statement.
The Palestinians failed to obtain a full membership at the United Nations due to objection of the United States and Israel who insisted that the Palestinians should resume direct peace talks with Israel.
