Recently, we have been seeing more and more reports in respect to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s declaration that he supports the “two states for two peoples” vision.
Almost all of these reports carry the same message: PM Netanyahu merely uttered the words, yet the prime minister does not intend to implement what he said; in fact, we are being told that Netanyahu presented the kind of conditions that have no chance of being accepted by the Palestinians.
So Netanyahu uttered some words? So what, it means nothing, or so we are being told. But in response I would say that this slyness shows blindness to reality.
We have also been seeing more and more reports about extensive construction at various communities located in Judea and Samaria. We are hearing about “a proper Jewish and Zionist response,” and we are told that the Americans, as always, will turn a blind eye to this.
We remind ourselves that we came to this country in order to build here, and that we need to do this fast, before the Americans wake up and realize what’s going on. But in response I would say that these attempts to get smart show blindness to reality.
In addition, we have been seeing more and more reports about the apparent weakness of US President Barack Obama and his administration. Things are not as bad as we feared they would be, we are being told. As it turns out, we can fool Obama as well.
The traditional policy whereby our government and the settlers keep operating in line with unspoken understandings between them will go on.
But yet again, in response to these sentiments, I would say that we should be realizing that those who endorse this view are in fact blind to reality.
