ATFP Announces New Summer Medical Volunteer Program for West Bank, Seeks Volunteer Surgeons for One-Week Rotations

Washington, D.C., January 23 -- The American Task Force on Palestine (ATFP) today announced a new humanitarian medical program to help alleviate the Palestinian medical situation in the West Bank. The program, 'Healing Palestinians,' will consist of one-week rotations to several West Bank hospitals beginning in Summer 2007. For the purposes of this program, ATFP is seeking Arabic-speaking volunteer surgeons in various surgical specialties only.

ATFP views with the utmost gravity construction that commenced yesterday on the Mughrabi Gate bridge leading up to the Haram al-Sharif/Temple Mount compound in Jerusalem. Israel plans to construct a new and massively-expanded access bridge to the compound to replace the wooden structure that had been built in 2005 after the exisitng earthwork ramp had collapsed. Given the extremely heightened religious sensitivities regarding the Haram al-Sharif/Temple Mount compound as well as the unresolved political status of Jerusalem, any construction in this area

Washington, D.C., March 23 -- The American Task Force on Palestine (ATFP) held a briefing today at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. The briefing was titled "Developing a Dual Israeli-Palestinian Historical Narrative". Dr. Sami Adwan of Bethlehem University and Dr. Dan Bar-Or of Ben Gurion University presented their experiences as co-directors of the Peace Research Institute in the Middle East (PRIME) in developing and teaching the 'Dual Historical Narrative' booklets to their pupils.

The American Task Force on Palestine (ATFP) is happy to announce the donation of the amount of $100,000.00 to Dar El-Tifl (Home of Children) in Jerusalem. The donation comes from ATFP's Palestine Humanitarian Fund, established to fund Palestinian humanitarian projects in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem. Dar El-Tifl is a Palestinian charity established in Jerusalem in 1948 originally to care for Palestinian children who were made orphans.

Washington, D.C., May 23, 2007 - The American Task Force for Lebanon (ATFL) and the American Task Force on Palestine (ATFP) today expressed support for Lebanon and condemned the ?Fatah al-Islam? group in the Nahr el-Bared Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon for their assault on Lebanese sovereignty, stability and security, and for endangering of the lives of the innocent Palestinian camp refugees. ATFL and ATFP also urged that precautions be taken to minimize civilian casualties and to ensure the safety of innocent Lebanese and Palestinians, in line with international humanitarian law.
