Adel Sansur
is considered a contemporary American impressionist. His work is best summarized by his own statement: "Color is my love and my obsession. I notice color and three dimensions in everything. The scope of nature's architecture is often ignored. We must look deeper into the shadows that surround us and appreciate colors wherever they exist. Everything around us is soul provoking. Nature is so beautiful; it brings out the best in us if we take the time to look. Its beauty should never be taken for granted... from the grass, to the trees, to the ocean beyond."

Adel Sansur was born in 1945 in Jerusalem. His affinity for art was readily apparent as a child. He was quite influenced by his mother, an accomplished painter of the early to mid-twentieth century. Adel Sansur has been painting landscapes, beach scenes and still life since his teens. Though he had private tutoring in his youth and worked with several prominent artists over the east coast, Sansur still considers himself to be self-taught. Adel Sansur studied medicine and immigrated to the United States in the 1970s to pursue a medical career which spanned two and a half decades. He obtained his US citizenship, and has been living in the US ever since. Throughout this time however, he incessantly would draw anything of interest to capture the beauty of the moment. He would then change these drawings into unique oil impressions. Adel Sansur is mostly a plein air artist, but he also draws inspiration from his own digital photographs portraying local scenes from his garden, or other areas in Maryland, as well as scenes from Virginia, Maine, and his travels abroad, particularly French Normandy.

Adel Sansur's love of art eventually won over his medical career. He has been devoting all his time to painting and running his own studio in Reisterstown, Maryland for the past several years. Adel Sansur's work comprises several commissioned pieces that span across the globe. His paintings are in several private collections in the US, Europe, and the Middle East, including the private collections of several dignitaries in the Middle East. Sansur is currently on tenure at Bendann Art Galleries, Baltimore, Maryland.
